The catalogue fills a major gap in recording the rich legacy of medieval Rhenish manuscripts. Including manuscripts lost in wars and fragments, it provides descriptions for 316 codices from the 8th to the 16th centuries. A focus is placed on manuscripts preserved from old monastic and university libraries in the Rhine-Moselle region and the Lower Rhine, some of them created during the reform movement of the late Middle Ages.
