Benita Schweizer is an author and the mother of two daughters, from Congo. As a young woman she dreamed of opening an orphanage, a place where disadvantaged children could find hope. Her research led her to an uncomfortable truth: children are too often harmed in exactly the settings meant to protect them. She set the dream aside, but her wish to protect children remained. Becoming a mother showed her another way. She now writes illustrated safety books in English, French and German, giving families the words for the subjects that are hardest to raise, and giving children a plan they can remember. She lives in Switzerland.
