This second volume, like the first, consists of a number of contributions of scholars by international reputation. This is a pledge of high quality. The contributions are intended to present the literature composed in classical or postclassical Arabic in its essential, typical features. The term literature is broadly conceived, it embraces not only poetry and works of imagination, but also all those genres of writing in Arabic which embody classical Islamic culture.
