Malaria still remains one of the most dangerous tropical diseases, killing over 400.000 people annually. A vaccines against the sexual stages of Plasmodium would lead to reduced or blocked transmission of the parasite and could be used together with vaccines against blood and liver stages. Several sexual stage antigens were selected to generate a multi domain vaccine candidate, which was produced and tested in immunization studies as well as functional assays.
