
This volume examines Saarbrücken’s emergence as a "metropolis" in 1909, the legal developments that took place in Saarbrücken during and directly after World War I, the Saar Statute, Saarbrücken during the period of the League of Nations mandate 1920–1935, the Saar status referendum of 1935, Saarbrücken during National Socialism, and the legal developments that took place in Saarbrücken after 1945. Different emphases are made in each chapter.
