This interdisciplinary study draws on the latest research to differentiate by period and location which legal concepts – Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek, or Roman – determine people’s behavior in the text and the applicable linguistic forms. This innovative approach reaches concrete new conclusions about the text that previous commentaries have missed.
