Die Bildsprache Michelangelos

Beschreibung

Art historian and philosopher Edgar Wind completed his monograph on Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling frescos in 1936. Adopting a methodological approach developed by Aby Warburg, who was Wind’s colleague in Hamburg, he analyzed Michelangelo’s choice of themes. Although the work was complete, it was never published, and is presented now for the first time in printed form, accompanied by an extensive editor’s postscript.
