This textbook distinguishes itself from other introductory works in translation studies in the following respects: it is language-related and concentrates on selected fundamentals (the history of translation, theoretical foundations, linguistic problems in translation). The work has been substantially expanded for the second edition (to include the ethics of translation and corpus-based translation studies).
