The illustrated book Leute captures over 30 years of MORRIS’s minimalist, spontaneous style of figure drawing, which he has been honing since the early 1990s. It documents the creation and evolution of a highly personal world of figures in chronological order. The drawings are stripped down to a minimal color palette and made with the simplest of materials. Usually, they are produced on the back of a piece of scrap paper or card using a single brush and ink, or a single pen or pencil. This method “upcycles” waste into accomplished works of art. The book presents a selection from 30 years of MORRIS’s figure drawings, introducing the world to the “illustrious company” of his figures for the first time. With a foreword by Thomas Escher.
